Shot: Eight tourists with children stranded in the mountains near Sochi due to river overflow

An incident occurred in the Krasnodar region involving a tourist group of eight individuals, including children aged 10 and 13.

The travelers set off on October 7, intending to hike through the picturesque areas of the region, planning to traverse the fir glade, the “Kholodny” camp, and the “Dzhuga” meteorological station. The nearest major city is the resort town of Krasnaya Polyana, located in Sochi, as reported by the Shot Telegram channel.

While moving through the route, the tourists attempted to transport their sleeping gear and necessary equipment across the Ulashten River using horses. However, sudden rain led to a sharp rise in water levels, making the crossing very dangerous.

The group was forced to stop, set up a temporary camp, and call for assistance from rescue services. Currently, the tourists are completely cut off from the main route and are spending the night in an improvised shelter made of boards.

Reportedly, two members of the group have already begun showing symptoms of hypothermia. The trip was planned to last six days—from October 7 to 12—with a total distance of 75 kilometers and a maximum elevation of 3,540 meters.
